An Anglo-French espionage film based on the 1974 novel Tinker, Tail, Soldier, Spy, it is set in the bleak days of the Cold War. Set in London in the early 1970s, espionage veteran George Smiley is forced from semi-retirement to uncover a Soviet agent at the top of the British Secret Service within MI6's echelons.
