The peculiarly original Lars von Trier brings us yet another visually and psychologically demanding spectacle. Starring Kristen Dunst, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Kiefer Sutherland, Melancholia tells of two sisters who find their relationship challenged as a nearby planet threatens to collide into the Earth. The film illustrates people's need to remain calm and think positive thoughts even though inside stress is tearing them apart, as they wait for disaster to strike.
